Air Jordan 5 Retro "Top 3"
The Air Jordan 5 “Top 3” is an amalgamation of three of the most heralded colorways to have appeared on Michael Jordan’s fifth signature shoe. The “Grape,” “Fire Red,” and “Black Metallic” all are incorporated into the design of this shoe. The upper sports a black nubuck composition taken directly from the “Black Metallic” look. Translucent netting is located on the mid-panel while the tongue is inspired by the groovy ‘90s-era “Grape” design. Embroidered red “23” branding on the quarter panel and embroidered white “Nike Air” detailing on the heel provide a healthy dose of nostalgia. The Air window in the heel is encased within a fiery red midsole that features cement shark tooth detailing. Jordan Brand finishes off the look with an icy translucent outsole. Release date: May 30, 2020.
Key Points:
Fighter Jet Midsole: Features the iconic "shark-tooth" design on the midsole, a tribute to the nose art found on WWII fighter planes.
Quarter Panel Netting: Features plastic mesh window inserts on the side panels for enhanced breathability and a technical look.
Ankle Support & Padding: Known for its "bulky" but comfortable profile, featuring a heavily padded collar and asymmetrical "anatomical" foam to lock the heel in place.
Inner Details: Many models include an upside-down "Air Jordan" patch on the inner tongue—a classic detail from the original 1990 production.
Translucent "Icy" Outsole: The first model in the Jordan franchise to utilize a clear rubber outsole, providing a distinct, premium aesthetic.
